(BLANKET ADHESIVES FOR TEXTILE PRINTING)
PRINTOL - Blanket adhesive is a thermoplastic adhesive supplied in liquid form for the safe bonding of fabric on the blankets. The PRINTOL Blanket adhesives are of three types mainly PRINTOL-LT, PRINTOL-MT & PRINTOL-HT which are designed in such a way that tackiness is found only at a specific temperature. The thermoplastic adhesives are not tacky when they are cold & dry.PRINTOL-LT, PRINTOL-MT & PRINTOL-HTare liquid, colourless adhesives which do not attack the printing surface of the machine belts.
In cold atmosphere this permanent adhesive are not tacky. Due to thermal conductivity the adhesive will get tackiness. Certain adhesive has certain activation temperature like PRINTOL-LT gets tackiness at around 30degC, PRINTOL-MT gets tackiness at around 50degC and same way PRINTOL-HT gets tackiness around 80degC. However, at certain temperature, tackiness appears which disappears again when the adhesive temperature sinks below its activity range.
Properties:
- PRINTOL LT/MT/HT does not attack the printing surface of the machine Rubber blanket as it is free from Aromatic hydrocarbons and other harmful chemicals.
- PRINTOL LT/MT/HT are not toxic and free from the Organic components and other harmful solvents.
- They have an extensive durability and strength.
- They do not interact with printing auxiliaries, any emulsion agents, alcohols. Higher alcohols should be tested before use of spirit and defoaming agents.
Application:
Before applying this adhesive, the Belt has to be cleaned, degreased and dried properly. Guide Rolls and belt must be cleaned by removing dust, dirt, colours, dried adhesive particles, fluffs etc. After cleaning of belt, one wash of ethyl acetate or butyl acetate is done.
Firstly coat the Blanket with PRINTOL-HT to get even surface for base coat. Then rotate the blanket for 3 to 4 hours, for drying. Before applying the second coat check the departments’ temperature and then decide to use separately PRINTOL-LT or PRINTOL-MT or the mixture of PRINTOL-LT & PRINTOL-MT.
PRINTOL (LT/MT/HT)
In case you are using particular mixture then you take the particular ratio of the PRINTOL-LT & MT for particular temperature and then coat the blanket about 2 to 3 rounds of the belt. Again rotate the blanket only for drying for 4 to 6 hours. Thus approximately total 6kgs. material for the coating is recommended for approximately 40sq.mtr area of Blanket. As a result, 150gms of adhesive will be consumed per Sq.mtr. to get Rich coating.
Notes:
v If more tackiness is required, use of minimum PRINTOL-LT is recommended.
v For Rotary Machine, where less adhesion for fabric is required, use of PRINTOL-LT is avoided. If temperature goes above 50degC then use PRINTOL-MT & HT in the ratio of 2:1.
v When tackiness is lost, the blanket can be over coated with just about 0.5kg to 1kg of materials. Then rotate the blanket for about 15 to 30minutes for drying before printing.
Performance of the thermoplast is effected by factors like heating and pressing system, Quality of the fabrics to be printed, the finish of the fabric, the room temperature etc. They effect in obtaining the required result even though best quality of PRINTOL-LT/MT/HT is used.
